The Health Trust and Subaru Share The Love 2023

The Health Trust is dedicated to providing nutritious meals, friendly in-home visits, and safety checks for seniors and adults with disabilities in Santa Clara County. This vital support keeps older and homebound adults healthy and in their own homes, where they want to be. After skyrocketing during the height of the pandemic, demand for home-delivered meals about triple pre-pandemic levels.  Last year, The Health Trust provided more than 275,000 meals and more than 49,000 wellness checks.

We are incredibly grateful to Subaru and its retailers for supporting our organization and the individuals we serve. With that in mind, we want to share more about the Subaru Share the Love Event and how it helps support your community.

Why does Subaru support Meals on Wheels? Seniors everywhere are struggling to stay independent and healthy. Today, the average life expectancy is at a record high of 79 years. As we age, even the most independent among us may experience physical declines or financial hardship that strips away our independence. Add to that an increase in geographic mobility of our families, and the result is millions of seniors left behind, hungry, and alone. Nearly 7.4 million seniors gave incomes below the poverty line. That’s an income of $240 a week or less, which, after housing, utility, and medical expenses, leaves very little for food. Half of the seniors living alone lack the financial resources to pay for basic needs.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

This November 17, 2023, through January 2, 2024, for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $300 to the customer’s choice of participating charities.* Meals on Wheels is one of four national participating charities and has been since the inception of the event. Through this event, as a member of Meals on Wheels America, The Health Trust will receive a share of the donation from Subaru vehicles sold at participating Subaru Retailers.

You might not be in the market to purchase a new car, but if you are, please look into the Subaru Share the Love Event to learn more. If you’re not shopping for a new vehicle, you can still help by spreading the word to your family and friends. A few quick and easy ways to do that:

  • Share our posts about the Share the Love Event on Facebook, Twitter @healthtrsust, or Instagram @thehealthtrust.
  • Share the information with any family or friend who mentions they are looking to buy/lease a new car.

The Health Trust is an operating foundation founded in 1996. Our mission is to build health equity in Silicon Valley. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to be healthy – especially the most vulnerable. About Meals on Wheels America

Meals on Wheels has been guided by a single goal since the first known U.S. delivery by a small group of Philadelphia citizens in 1954 – to support our senior neighbors to extend their independence and health as they age. What started as a compassionate idea has grown into one of the largest and most effective social movements in America, currently helping over 2.4 million seniors annually in virtually every community in the country. By providing funding, leadership, education, research and advocacy support, Meals on Wheels America empowers its local member programs to strengthen their communities, one senior at a time.
