At The Health Trust, our mission is to build health equity in Silicon Valley. We believe a person’s income, race, immigration status, language, age, or zip code should never act as a barrier to health. And as we continue to grapple with the unimaginable consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, our commitment to our most vulnerable community members remains unwavering.
Today, we are proud to announce our COVID-19 Relief Fund providing general operating support to recent and current nonprofit grantees delivering essential health-related services to communities. The 11 grants, unanimously approved by our Board of Trustees on April 17th, total $723,000 in support of partner organizations affected by the impact of COVID-19.
Over the last several weeks, in an effort to meet the growing community demand, our grantee partners have had to expand or pivot business operations – all while operating under extreme challenges and limited resources, without service interruptions. We found it imperative to pivot our grantmaking to support them during these difficult times.
In response to both the challenges and opportunities expressed by numerous grantee partners providing essential services in Santa Clara and Northern San Benito counties, we streamlined the application and submission process in an effort to cause minimal disruption to the critical work already being done.
We are grateful for our Board of Trustees’ swift action and temporary grantmaking shift that is responsive to the needs of our grantee partners who continue to supply a critical lifeline to those most impacted by the pandemic.
It is our hope that these funds provide some financial relief to our front-line community-serving partners during this crisis.
Sincerely,
Michele Lew
