Robert Johnson named Communications Director for The Health Trust

San Jose, CA, May 1, 2014

The Health Trust is pleased to announce that Robert Johnson has joined the organization as Director of Policy and Communications.

A seasoned photojournalist, Johnson arrives at The Health Trust from Business Insider, where he founded the Military & Defense section and became Senior Correspondent.  His photo essays and writing have taken him across the world, from Guantanamo Bay to Egypt.  He recently reported on the homelessness crisis in Silicon Valley, providing images that juxtapose the extremes of wealth and poverty in the region.

Formerly a non-commissioned officer for the U.S. Army, Johnson was injured and spent two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, which led to his journalism career.

Johnson arrives already familiar with our work as a communications consultant for Destination: Home, a program of The Health Trust.  “Over the last six months Robert has worked with us to grow our online presence as well as telling hard-hitting stories about the realities of homelessness in the Silicon Valley” says Jennifer Loving, Executive Director of Destination: Home. As Director of Communications, he will guide the communications agenda for The Health Trust, ensuring that our messaging consistently reflects our mission, values and priorities.

Johnson earned his M.A. degree in Journalism from New York University, his B.A.in English from the University of South Florida and his B.A. in English Literature from the University of Maryland College Park.
